Volunteer Opportunities

OCP is growing quickly! To help keep up the pace despite our tiny budget, we need a team of volunteers with specialized skill sets to help us get the work done. The legal and scientific nature of our work requires a high amount of rigor, including but not limited to peer review for most communications. If this kind of attention to detail sounds like something you’re interested in, keep reading and see if there’s a position or team that’s right for you.

Note: Paid positions are not available at this time. We’ll announce if and when that changes.

Fundraising Team

OCP’s Fundraising Team is responsible for raising money to meet projected targets. Outreach and contact will be directed by Executive Director in community fundraising, high value donors, approaching ancillary companies and other parties with community ties or data interest. We also need help with researching funding opportunities like grants, writing and editing grant applications, building relationships, networking, and throwing fundraising events.

Research Team

The Research Team conducts vital academic, legal, and other patent-related research, helping to compile a knowledge base of both prior art and potentially illegitimate or overreaching patents.

Legal Team

The Legal Team works in collaboration with our legal advisors, helping to prepare legal analysis and fact-checking the communications team. The Legal Team may be comprised of lawyers, law students, and other legal professionals.

Communications Team

The Communications Team crafts and edits social media content and images for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, monthly newsletters, and our blog on Medium. Right now our primary need is someone to help manage our social media accounts.

Technology Development Team

When it comes to building technology, there is no shortage of work to do! Whether you love developing databases, designing user interfaces, or dig data cleanup, there’s likely a job for you.

Volunteer Coordinator

OCP’s Volunteer Coordinator will manage all elements of volunteering on behalf of the organization. This person will assess and meet the needs of OCP’s through the recruitment, placement and retention of volunteers.
